IGCF to help achieve sustainable community development: Thani Al Zeyoudi


SHARJAH, March 20 (APP):United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister for Climate Change Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi Wednesday said the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) had become a key regional platform for developing effective communication strategies and supporting the government’s efforts, which would help achieve sustainable community development.
In an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on sidelines of the IGCF, he said the active participation of international government communication experts in the two-day conference being held here from March 20 to 21 titled ‘Behavioural Change Towards Human Development’, had confirmed the importance of government communication, as an influential development tool, to changing the behaviour of individuals and helping them make positive changes in their communities.
Highlighting the role of government communication sector in involving the entire community in the development process, he said the UAE’s experience in government communication was inspiring and public-centric.
Answering a question, Dr Al Zeyoudi stressed that the government communication played a pivotal role in achieving sustainability, raising the awareness among community about various environmental issues, and motivating them to support the country’s sustainability efforts.
Since its establishment in 2012, the forum has redefined the communication landscape in the Arab world and internationally with its path-breaking discussions and recommendations that have tangibly impacted communication policies at the regional and international levels.
It is a unique platform in the region that brings together global government communication experts to explore best practices in the field and share their knowledge for human resource development, using different technological tools.
