ISLAMABAD, Sep 26 (APP):Weaving People to Grow (WPTG) Foundation organized an informative session as part of the International Day of Peace.
The session was moderated by Aaron Rowan and the panelists were Ms. Kiran Peter, the Executive Director, Ms. Sofia Garstin the General Secretary, Ms. Rubina Basharat and Ms. Sheeba of WPTG Foundation while the event was organized by youth volunteers and friends of WPTG Foundation.
The Peace Day was observed around the world on September 21 every year. The United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening ideals of peace.
A total of 44 community members participated in the event, they were informed about the importance of peaceful coexistence in Pakistan and how we need to embrace each other and be compassionate with one another no matter what sect, religion, race or economic status we belong to. Pakistan has to be strengthened from inside by uniting with each other to grow multi-dimensionally.
Ms. Kiran also explained about their free Non-Formal Education Centre running since June 2023 and said we were providing free education to children with moral learning based on the concepts of honesty, forgiveness and compassion because we want to see our future leaders with these qualities. The children and the parents also appreciated and expressed their gratitude for the efforts made by the staff members of the organization.
The organization was also running a skill development centre (WPTG Foundation’s Beauticians Training Centre) for women working in homes and getting lowest wages.
The trainer of the skill development centre, Ms. Sofia Garstin articulated peace cannot be prevailed with empty stomachs, therefore, besides advocating and fostering peace skill development and becoming economically sustainable was also very important.
