LONDON, Feb 21 (APP):The World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis (WCOP) has highly appreciated the efforts of Prime Minister Imran Khan for securing the release of 2,107 Pakistani workers languishing in Saudi Jails.
“More than 2,000 Pakistani workers languishing in Saudi jails will be released and the credit goes to the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s foreign policy coup during the Saudi Crown Prince’s recent visit to Pakistan”,Arif Anis Malik, Co-Founder and Executive Director of World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis”, told APP here Thursday.
From his first address to the nation and several other ground-breaking steps for Overseas Pakistanis, the Prime Minister has been continuously working on their issues for redressal.
Arif Malik said that Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman had “ordered the immediate release of 2,107 Pakistani prisoners”, after a request by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
To a question, he said that Saudi Arabia during the Crown Prince visit to Pakistan had also signed investment agreements with Pakistan worth $20bn.
“The crown prince’s visit marked a deepening of ties between allies whose relationship has in the past centred on oil-rich Saudi Arabia backing Pakistan’s economy during difficult periods”, he remarked.
“I congratulate the Prime Minister Imran Khan for attracting the foreign direct investment while
defending the rights of the Pakistani labourers at the same time’. Malik said.
“The fate of thousands of Pakistani workers locked up in jails across the Middle East was a sensitive issue in Pakistan, where there was a perception the prisoners were mostly poor labourers who have no real legal recourse.’he added.
While speaking with regard to the recent rise in Indian jingoism after Pulwama attack, Malik commented that sounding the war bugle over the killing of 47 Indian soldiers in a suspicious terror attack in Indian-occupied-Kashmir, New Delhi seems to have taken its propaganda warfare to a practically unsustainable level.
Modi’s jingoistic India was involved in massive violation of human rights in Indian occupied Kashmir against Kashmiris denying their right to self determination.”Worse still, India was fast turning into a country with a rogue mind-set, whose leadership can even contemplate starving a lower riparian neighbouring state of water”, Malik said.
