TASHKENT, September 07 (APP): President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the United States Donald Trump held a telephone conversation, reviewing practical steps to further strengthen the Uzbek-American strategic partnership and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

At the outset, President Trump praised Uzbekistan’s irreversible reforms of recent years for modernizing the economy and improving public welfare. President Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated the U.S. leader for the impressive results of the American administration’s domestic and foreign policies, noting Washington’s efforts in promoting peace, security, and stability worldwide, according to the Uzbekistan’s Embassy in Islamabad the other day.

The two leaders discussed boosting bilateral trade and investment, highlighting steady growth in recent years. Trade turnover rose by 15 percent in 2024, with promising new projects in civil aviation, critical minerals, energy, agriculture, digital technologies, financial services, and education. Both sides noted that a series of meetings with leading U.S. companies are scheduled this month to foster long-term partnerships.

Security cooperation also featured prominently, particularly in combating terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration. The leaders welcomed expanding cultural and educational exchanges, including the successful operation of U.S. university branches in Tashkent.

In a lighter moment, President Trump extended his best wishes to the Uzbekistan National Team, which will participate for the first time in the FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States next year.

The two presidents also exchanged views on international and regional issues, reaffirming the importance of dialogue in the ‘C5+1’ format between the U.S. and Central Asian states. President Mirziyoyev invited President Trump to visit Uzbekistan at a convenient time.

Both sides agreed to maintain high-level contacts to advance joint projects and programs. The conversation was described as open, constructive, and friendly.
