UN chief welcomes move by Pakistan and India to resume 'comprehensive' dialogue

UNITED NATIONS, Dec 9 (APP): United Nations Secretary-General Wednesday welcomed the announcement that Pakistan and India have decided to engage in a “comprehensive” dialogue that will include peace, security and Jammu & Kashmir.
“We always welcome the efforts by the leaders of India and Pakistan to resolve any of their differences bilaterally through negotiations and we hope that that proceeds,” UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan haq told reporters at the regular noon briefing in response to a question about the developments in Islamabad.

Capping a series of positive developments since Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Paris only ten days ago, it was announced in Islamabad that the foreign secretaries will meet to decide the modalities and schedule of the dialogue.
