UNITED NATIONS, Dec 25 (APP): UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lahore during which he had talks with his Pakistani counterpart Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, hoping the dialogue will be “maintained and strengthened”.

“The Secretary General has long been encouraging both leaders of the two countries to engage in dialogue,” a UN spokesman said, when asked to comment on the surprise visit by PM Modi.

“He (secretary-general) obviously welcomes this visit and this step in the right direction and he hopes that the dialogue will be maintained and strengthened,” the spokesman added.
