ISTANBUL, Feb 9 (XINHUA/APP): Turkish police have seized 1.24 tons of narcotics and detained 144 suspected drug dealers in nationwide operations over the past 10 days, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on Monday.
During the raids, police also seized 1.83 million drug pills, Yerlikaya said in a statement on social platform X.
The minister noted that the operations, covering 24 provinces, were coordinated by chief public prosecutors and anti-narcotics units.
Türkiye has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking in recent years. Its strategic location between Europe and Asia, along with busy border crossings and customs gates, has made it a key transit route for smugglers.
