Syria, Türkiye unions sign cooperation agreement in Ankara

ANKARA, April 2 (SANA/APP) :
Syria’s General Federation of Trade Unions and Türkiye’s Confederation of Public Servants Trade Unions (Memur-Sen) signed a cooperation agreement in Ankara aimed at strengthening union ties and expanding expertise exchange.
The agreement includes provisions for exchanging delegations, sharing union-related materials and correspondence, and organizing joint workshops, training programs and consultations to strengthen workers’ capacities in both countries, according to a statement from the Syrian side.
Fawaz al-Ahmad, head of the Syrian federation, said the deal reflects a shared commitment to building a long-term partnership based on mutual benefit and equality, adding that coordination in international forums and information exchange would support workers’ rights.
Ali Yalçın, president of Memur-Sen, said the agreement opens new avenues for cooperation and contributes to improving the working environment through the exchange of expertise and the development of union practices. The agreement comes as part of broader efforts to strengthen trade union cooperation and adapt to economic and social changes at regional and international levels.
