Smooth return of Iranian pilgrims ensured through Jadidat Arar Crossing amid ongoing coordination efforts
The General Directorate of Passports, in close coordination with other government agencies, is overseeing the departure procedures of Iranian pilgrims, ensuring efficiency, speed, and safety amid the current situation in Iran. The directorate has confirmed the deployment of its full technical and administrative capabilities to streamline border processing and support departing pilgrims.
Complementing these efforts, the General Directorate of Border Guard continues to play a key service role by facilitating organized departures at the crossing point, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to providing seamless logistical support for all pilgrims.
In Madinah, Public Security has also activated a comprehensive organizational and service plan tailored to Iranian pilgrims, following the completion of their religious obligations. This includes full coordination with relevant authorities to manage the movement of pilgrims, ensuring they receive essential services during their visit to the Prophet’s Mosque and historical sites.
Transport logistics have been meticulously planned, with Public Security overseeing the deployment of designated buses to transfer pilgrims to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, from where they are flown to Arar Airport before proceeding to the border.
The coordinated return process began on June 15, when the first group of Iranian pilgrims arrived at Arar Airport as part of a broader initiative led by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. This effort follows directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the recommendations of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to ensure Iranian pilgrims are treated with dignity and care throughout their journey.
Upon arrival at Arar Airport, pilgrims were received by officials from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and other partner agencies who facilitated their logistics and onward travel. Field teams were deployed to assist with transfers and to implement a joint exit strategy coordinated with Iranian officials.
The phased return of pilgrims is being closely monitored through a dedicated operations room, ensuring that all services and procedural support are in place from arrival to final departure. The first group of pilgrims successfully crossed the border on Sunday, marking a smooth beginning to the broader repatriation operation.
This large-scale logistical effort highlights Saudi Arabia’s ongoing dedication to serving pilgrims from all nations, particularly during challenging times, and ensuring their spiritual journey concludes with comfort, dignity, and safety.
