ISLAMABAD, Oct 30 (APP): Saudi based relief organization, King
Abdullah Relief Campaign for Pakistani People (KARCPP) has assured
extending maximum support to alleviate miseries of the current and
October 8, 2005 Earthquake victims with dedication.
The assurance comes up from KARCPP country director Khalid Al
Othmani in a meeting with Acting Deputy Chairman Earthquake
Rehabilitation, Reconstruction Authority Brig Abu Bakr Bajwa on
Saudi delegation head said that relief organization in Riyadh
ensured best utilization of Saudi Public donations
collected from Saudi people on the call of government for the
earthquake affected areas.
At the occasion Acting Deputy Chairman ERRA eulogized Saudi
organization which earlier served in KP and Azad Kashmir under the
name of Saudi Public Assistance for Pakistan Earthquake Victim
(SPAPEV). He thanked for assistance which was provided by SPAPEV for
the earthquake affected areas. It was also discussed in the meeting
for future cooperation in the field of education and health.
He added that the SPAPEV had completed 8000 shelter houses in
the earthquake affected areas, 4,000 shelters were erected in
Balakot city Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 4000 shelter in Muzaffarabad and
Bagh which cost US $ 36 million.
Saudi delegation head Khalid said on the occasion that eight
health facilities were also completed in Muzaffarabad and Mansehra.
He said five educational facilities were completed in
earthquake affected areas while seven are in planning stage, said a
press release. Acting Deputy Chairman said that ERRA has the pride to build
above 600,000 housing units and 10,000 other structures which are
seismically resistant’s and even 8.1 magnitude jolt has not damaged any structure which ERRA had built.He said that in district Shangla ERRA constructed buildings
are undamaged which is evident that ERRA strictly followed building
codes. During meeting, he also called upon Saudi delegation head that
in FATA transitional houses are being built and urged Saudi government to assist in this regard
