DOHA, Oct 23 (APP): President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday called upon the Qatari government to enhance quota for Pakistani labour and relax visa regime for Pakistanis for mutual benefit, as his country could provide unskilled, skilled and high professional manpower in various fields.
The President was talking to Qatari Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Special Affairs Dr Issa Saad Al Nuaimi, who called on him here and discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in the area of manpower.
He said around 125,000 Pakistani community in Qatar was playing a vital role in the development of brotherly country, and considered Qatar as their second home. Pakistan had huge resource of manpower that could serve the future needs of Qatar, he added.
He recalled that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during his visit to Pakistan in 2015 had expressed interest in enhancing the export of manpower from Pakistan in the Qatari market. The matter was again discussed during the visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to Qatar in February 2016, he added.
The President underlined that Pakistan could also provide highly skilled manpower comprising professionals from different fields, including doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants etc.
The Qatari Labour Minister said his country was interested in hiring Pakistani professionals in the fields of medicines, nursing and engineering. He said the process for Pakistani manpower would be expedited after devising a mechanism.
He also praised the role of Pakistani expatriates working in Qatar.
