PM meets with Senate Foreign Relations Committee

WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif met
Senator Bob Corker, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
and ranking members of the committee here at the Capitol Hill on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister thanked the Senate Foreign Relations Committee
for its consistent support to democracy, security cooperation and
economic development in Pakistan.
He thanked for provision of counter-terrosism assistance by the US
Congress and informed that Zarb-e-Azb has achieved its initial targets
and has entered a decisive phase.
The Prime Minister outlined his vision of peaceful neighbourhood
and apprised about his government’s outreach to the leadership of
India and Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister shared his comitment to remain engaged with Afghan
leadership towards promoting peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and briefed about his recent peace initiative towards India.
Senator Corker appreciated reform agenda of the Prime Minister.
On behalf of the committee, the chairman acknowledged the sacrifices by
Pakistan as the frontline state in the international effort to combat terrosism.
Members of Congress emphasised that Pakistan was an important country in
the region and the US looked forward for engaging with Pakistan to advance goals of peace and stability in the region.
