PIA plane airlifts flood relief goods donated by Chinese businesses, entities

BEIJING, Nov 8 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane transported relief goods donated by various business organizations and entities based in South West China, for the assistance of flood-hit people in Pakistan.

Recently, PK-871, flew out from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport for Islamabad carrying donations generously handed over by various businesses and entities based in South West China, according to official sources.

PK-871 was the first non-governmental aid flight leaving China, carrying donations, intended to help support and assist Pakistan’s flood relief efforts.

The items being carried comprised of water purifiers, tents, blankets, etc and the total tonnage was around four tonnes. The flight’s final destination was Islamabad International.
Additionally, a further three tonnes of relief supplies were transported from Chengdu to the port of Guangzhou. The relief items will reach the port city of Karachi towards the end of November.

Meanwhile, a handing-over ceremony was held in Chengdu Zhongchu Logistics Warehouse, Chengdu, wherein different business organizations and entities handed over donations in-kind to the Pakistan Mission, Chengdu.

They comprised of the University of Sichuan, Zhongke Industrial Development Co. Ltd, Zhongjing Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd, Nengduan Jingang, Chengdu Business Service Co. Ltd, Huawei Electromechanical Co. Ltd, and Sichuan Dongjianghai Construction.

The donations in kind comprised of up to 7 tonnes of water-proof tents, blankets, water purifiers, solar powdered outdoor batteries and lights.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Sichuan People’s Provincial Government and Chengdu People’s Municipal Government, as well as local media and news outlets.

The representatives from the Sichuan People’s Government expressed solidarity with their Pakistani brothers and sisters and reaffirmed their commitment to always stand by Pakistan.

During the ceremony, Agha Hunain Abbas Khan, Acting Consul General, expressed sincere gratitude to the donating entities and authorities present for the generosity displayed, and, on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, conveyed an expression of profound thanks.

During the occasion, further possibilities of continuing to assist Pakistan’s flood relief efforts were discussed.
