UNITED NATIONS, Feb 05 (APP): Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Munir Akram, Wednesday met with his Chinese counterpart Fu Cong, who is also the President of UN Security Council for the month of February, to hand over a letter from Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, as Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed around the world.
In the letter, the DPM/FM of Pakistan drew the Security Council’s attention to the grave human rights violations in the Indian-Occupied Kashmir at the hands of the Indian occupation forces, and urged the Council members to take decisive steps — without any further delay — to secure the implementation of its own resolutions that pledged the right of self-determination to the Kashmiri people, according to press of the Pakistani mission to the UN.
The letter also calls for an end India’s “egregious” violations of the human rights of the Kashmiri people, in particular the right to self-determination.
The letter is also copied to the President of the UN General Assembly, Philemon Yang and the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
The Pakistan Mission and the Consulate General in New York have organized a meeting to Mark the day in which a number of distinguished speakers will take part.
