WASHINGTON, Jun 25 (APP):Pakistan’s new ambassador to the United States Ali Jehangir Siddiqui has asked the Consuls Generals and Commercial Counsellors to focus on untapped sectors for enhancing two way trade with the United States.
Mr. Siddiqui, who has replaced Ambassador Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, presented his credentials to President Donald Trump last week.
Presiding over a day-long meeting conference of Pakistan’s Consuls General and Commercial Counsellors based in the United States at Pakistan Embassy DC, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of promoting bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United States.
Matters related to consular facilitation, bilateral trade and investment, and outreach to Pakistani-American community for promoting Pakistan-U.S. relations were discussed.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ali Jehangir Siddiqui highlighted the importance of extending efficient consular services. He applauded the steps taken by the Embassy and the Consulates General, and asked the concerned officers to further improve areas of consular services based on the feedback received from the community.
The visiting Consuls General and Head of Consular Affairs at Pakistan Embassy DC briefed the Ambassador on recent improvements brought in consular services.
Trade and investment related issues between Pakistan and the United States were discussed at length. Ambassador Siddiqui directed Trade/Commercial representatives to focus on untapped sectors on both sides for enhancing commercial ties between the two countries.
It was resolved that a frequency of such interactions would form part of efforts geared to better coordination between the Embassy and Consulates General.
Ambassador Siddiqui also attended a gathering of Pakistan American community over the weekend at the state of Maryland and urged the community to play its role in projecting a positive image of the country.
