Pakistani Culture Center at Tsinghua University celebrates 10th anniversary

BEIJING, Jan 16 (APP)::Pakistani Culture and Communication Center established at Tsinghua University, Beijing has celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Deputy Head of Mission at Pakistan Embassy in Beijing Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was the chief guest at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch appreciated the center for promoting the history and culture of Pakistan amongst the youth of China and said educational cooperation and people-to-people connectivity was a crucial aspect of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China.
She emphasized the need to increase exchange of students and interaction between universities to further cultural and civilizational links between Pakistan and China.
At the event, the deputy head of mission interacted with Chinese and Pakistani students who were pursuing higher studies at the center and presented awards to scholars for their outstanding contribution to the center.
She also presented a gift of books on the history, politics, culture, literature and foreign policy of Pakistan to the center.
Director of Pakistani Culture and Communication Center, Professor Li Xiguang highlighted the role played by the center in promoting studies on the Silk Road and Pakistani culture and society.
He thanked the government of Pakistan for its continued support to the center and appreciated the books presented by the embassy which he said would enrich the library of the center.
Professor Li also recollected his first visit to Pakistan in the winter of 1990 with Professor Hassan Dani, whom he referred to as his mentor.
The event was attended by a large number of people including Vice Secretary General of Tsinghua University Education Foundation Zhao Jinsong, professors and students of Tsinghua University.
