BEIJING, Jan 18 (AAPP): Chinas Jinhua Qnggan Grnules (JHQG) has become the first Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for the treatment of Covid-19 patients in Pakistan after completing its clinical trial.

A ceremony on the successful completion of clinical trial on emcacy and safety of Jinhua Qinggan granules (JHQG), a product of TCM, for treating COVID-19 patients in Pakistan, was held both online and offline, China Economic Net (CEN) reported.

At the ceremony, Pakistan Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong congratulated JHQG on its good treatment for COVID-19 patients, and they also expressed to provide full support to the application of TCM in Pakistan.

Raza Shah, principal investigator in the trial, said they had conducted research the emcacy of JHQG on 300 cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan from June 2020 to December 2021. JHQG shows obvious therapeutic effect compared with control group.

Dr. Atta ur Rahman, Chairman of Pakistani Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, and other participants thought that the clinical research of JHQG is strictly complied with international requirements and its research result provides international level evidence of evidence-based medicine for TCM on treatment of COVID-19.

Pro Liu Xinmin, Co-Director of SPCCTCM, a professor of Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and a member of Expert Advisory Panel on Traditional Medicine, WHO, said that Sino-Pakistan Cooperation Center on Traditional Chinese Medicine (SPCCTCM) will give its full support to Chinese and Pakistani scientists and enterprises in various areas including clinical study, cultivation of medicinal plants, R&D of herbal medicines and talents training.

The ceremony is jointly organized by Sindh Health Ministry, Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Juxiechang (Beijing) pharmaceuticals company, Sino-Pakistan Cooperation Center on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing Hospital of TCM and Hunan University of Medicine, China.

China and Pakistan have strengthened cooperation in traditional medicine Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Traditional Unani Medicine (TUM). SPCCTCM was launched respectively in Hunan University of Medicine in Huaihua China and the ICCBS in University of Karachi in Pakistan in 2021.

ICCBS in University of Karachi also launched the China-Pakistan Joint Research Center for Nutrition and Health with Institute of Food Science and Technology, CAAS in 2021.
