ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (APP): The 11th Meeting of Pakistan-Turkey High Level
Military Dialogue Group (HLMDG), successfully concluded with the signing of a landmark agreement for Transfer of 34 T-37 Aircraft and Spares to Pakistan on Gratis basis.
T-37 is a Jet Trainer and Light-Attack Aircraft and Turkey on Pakistan’s
desire of acquiring the aircraft extended the courtesy of 34 Aircrafts and Spares to Pakistan.
The signing of the agreement took place between Director General Defence
Procurement Maj Gen Naveed Ahmed and Chief of Logistics Turkey Maj Gen Serdar Gulbas.
A Joint Communiqué from both Pakistan and Turkish side was signed by
Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak, Secretary Defence and Gen Yasar GULER, Deputy Chief of Turkish General Staff, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
The Defence Secretary during his visit highlighted Pakistan’s Defence
Capability and Military Capacity and Requirements in the current global perspective.
Secretary paid felicitations on democracy initiatives of Recep Tayyip
Erodogan and highlighted the exemplary brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey.
He said, Pakistan desires to further translate these relations into
strategic cooperation, signifying strategic importance of our relations. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation at regional and multinational fora including UN,OIC, ECO and D-8.
Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak while expressing his views in High
Level Military Dialogue Group (HLMDG) on Regional and Global security said that both working groups did considerable work to review progress on decisions that are taken in last HLMDG meeting as well as new agenda relating to Politico-Military Matters and Defence Industry Cooperation.
He expressed the desire to further expand cooperation between defence
industries and training from strategic to joint venture levels.
On the occasion he also took the opportunity to thank Turkish defence
industry for support in Naval, Air and Communication Systems.
The Secretary Defence observed that 11th Paksitan-Turkey HLMDG Meeting
has proved very successful and expressed satisfaction over unanimity of views on the subject negotiated and finalized.
