Pakistan holds recent Pak-Saudi joint defence pact in high esteem: PM

ISLAMABAD, Oct 08 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Wednesday, stressed that Pakistan held the recent joint defense agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in high esteem.

He emphasized that the agreement would further strengthen the multi-dimensional economic, strategic, defense, and trade ties between the two brotherly nations.

The prime minister received Chairman of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh and his high delegation that called on him, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the prime minister lauded the vision of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman for the Kingdom’s development.

He noted that under the crown prince’s leadership, Saudi Arabia achieved remarkable progress across various sectors, setting a precedent for the world to emulate.

He particularly appreciated the Kingdom’s efforts in economic and social development and the empowerment of women.

The prime minister warmly welcomed the delegation to Pakistan and described the meeting with Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh as pleasant and constructive, similar to their previous interactions in Riyadh and Jeddah.

The prime minister conveyed his best wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and prayed for his health and well-being.

The chairman of the Saudi Shura Council expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to them during the visit.

He termed the recent joint defense agreement as highly significant and reflective of the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the peoples of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

He also stressed upon the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides agreed on the promotion of parliamentary exchanges to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
