ISLAMABAD, Dec 19 (BelTA/APP):The five-year plan will focus on the development of Belarusian regions, Belarusian President and Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 19 December, BelTA has learned.
“The five-year plan will focus on the development of our regions. We have 118 districts,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “That is where our people are. They are not neglected, these districts. The centers have been put in order: they are clean and tidy. And every chairman of a district executive committee understands that this is their home, which must be kept clean. There’s no need to overcomplicate this,” he said.
In the same context, the president highlighted the importance of reviving mobile mechanized construction units. “How can one even be a chairman of a district executive committee without a construction unit? Do you remember the construction mobile mechanized construction units? They had fallen into a bit of a decline, but we have started to revive and restore them. They need to be restored so that we have our own builders. So that they can at least perform some basic construction work,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, the head of state assured that the One District – One Project initiative would be preserved in Belarus. “Where there is a need, we will establish certain enterprises. We will work on this area,” he added.
Speaking about the development of district centers, Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the development of the road network. “For the most part, we have already linked up our district and regional centers with repaired roads. Now our task is to extend this network from district centers out to the agrotowns, wherever necessary. This is a challenge we plan to meet in the next two years,” the president stressed.
