Laos to boost sustainable agrifood systems

VIENTIANE, July 24 (Xinhua/APP): The Lao government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a financing agreement to launch the Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project, supporting efforts to accelerate agricultural growth and benefit households and agribusinesses.

The agreement was signed in the capital Vientiane on Wednesday, Lao News Agency reported on Thursday.

The project will improve climate resilience, food security, nutrition, and household incomes in Laos. It will also strengthen agrifood systems geared toward domestic and export markets for high-value commodities.

By advancing agrifood system transformation, the project will benefit communities and enterprises, contributing to Laos’ economic growth.
