TASHKENT, Oct 15 (UzA/APP) : The opening of the exhibition “40 Years of Higashikawa as a City of Photography: Higashikawa Photo Exhibition” took place at the Ikuo Hirayama International Cultural Caravanserai of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan, the Japan Institute of Photographic Industry, and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, featured photo panels depicting landmarks that are increasing the cultural and tourism potential of the Japanese town of Higashikawa.
As noted at the event, Higashikawa City, located at the foot of Daisetsuzan National Park in central Hokkaido, declared itself a “City of Photography” in 1985 and began its activities with the culture of photography as the basis for the development of society.
Since then, through events such as the “International Photography Festival”, “Photo Koshien”, and the “International High School Exchange Photography Festival”, he has been connecting with many organizations locally and internationally, promoting social development through photography.
On June 1 of this year, the town of Higashikawa celebrated the 40th anniversary of the “Photo City Declaration”. This exhibition features 50 works that depict Higashikawa’s current appearance. The exhibition will last until October 19 of this year.
