JAKARTA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua/APP): Indonesian Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman and New Zealand’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Trade and Investment Todd McClay signed a memorandum of understanding here on Thursday to strengthen bilateral trade in agricultural commodities.
“This collaboration is highly strategic amid the current global trade situation, which is full of challenges and uncertainty,” said Sulaiman.
The minister added that Indonesia has offered key export commodities to its southern neighbor, including crude palm oil, rubber, cocoa, and coffee, emphasizing that the partnership represents a mutually beneficial step forward, especially in light of increasingly complex and uncertain global trade and economic conditions.
Meanwhile, McClay noted that the cooperation has also been expanded to include the exchange of agricultural technology and innovation, aimed at boosting production and enhancing food security in both countries.
McClay further underlined that Indonesia is an important partner for New Zealand in developing mutually beneficial trade relations.
