JAKARTA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua/APP): Septo Indarto, a local teacher and business consultant, was among the many visitors who crowded the venue of the 2025 China (Indonesia) International E-Commerce Industry Expo (CIEIE), held at Jakarta International Expo from Oct. 29 to 31, to explore a wide range of Chinese products on display.

On Wednesday, Indarto spent time at the booth of Foshan Shunde Junsheng Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd., where staff demonstrated the features of a snowflake ice machine popular in China.

“This machine is very interesting. It can create ice cream right away,” he told Xinhua.

Indarto said Chinese-made products showcased at the three-day event, including electrical appliances, charging stations, agricultural machinery, pharmaceuticals, and frozen food, had attracted strong interest from local visitors due to their high quality and innovative design.

“For real, this expo gives me a new perspective about the global industry, particularly those coming from China,” he said, adding that China has become one of the world’s most innovative economies.

Indarto said he has attended many exhibitions featuring Chinese companies and enjoys following Chinese technological innovations on social media. “I also often review products and post them on my social media account, and maybe I can sell the products too,” he added.

Serving as a platform for industry professionals, entrepreneurs, and e-commerce enthusiasts, the CIEIE aims to facilitate business connections between Indonesian companies and Chinese suppliers while showcasing the latest trends and technologies in the e-commerce sector.

At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, Bai Xuefeng, vice president of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, said the expo not only introduced Chinese companies and manufacturing products to Indonesia but also supported bilateral development and encouraged enterprises to invest in Indonesia through technical exchanges, experience sharing, and industrial cooperation.

Among the exhibitors was Mr. Durian (Guangdong) Industrial Co., Ltd., a frozen food company promoting durian-based products such as fried durian balls, durian pizzas, and durian mochi cakes. Dozens of visitors gathered at its booth to sample the fried durian balls, which proved to be a crowd favorite.

“Indonesian people love fried products. And this product is very easy to cook,” said Xie Weiwei, director of the company’s international business division.

Xie said it was the company’s first participation in the expo and that they are seeking partnerships with local restaurants, supermarkets, and convenience stores. She added that the company has applied for halal certification for its products and expects to obtain it in November.

Halal certification, issued by recognized Islamic authorities, ensures that products comply with Islamic dietary laws. Indonesia, home to the world’s largest Muslim population, places strong emphasis on such certification for food products.

“We will try to find a good partner. And if the market goes well, we may later set up an office here or even a factory,” Xie said, noting that the company currently imports raw durians from Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam but hopes to source from Indonesia in the future.

“Indonesian durians have very good quality,” she said, suggesting that exporters improve freezing techniques to enhance competitiveness.

Ahmad Ridha Sabana, special envoy of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who inaugurated the expo, encouraged local entrepreneurs to visit the event to gain insights into new innovative products and ideas that could inspire domestic industries.

“An expo like this offers products that may not yet exist in Indonesia, which we can transform into locally manufactured products,” said Sabana, who oversees micro, small, and medium enterprises as well as the creative and digital economy.
