CIS Health and Human Rights Week to kick off on 6 April

MINSK, Apr 2 (BelTA/APP): The CIS interstate campaign “Health and Human Rights Week in the CIS” will be running from 6 to 10 April, Yevgenia Paramonova, Chairwoman of the CIS Human Rights Commission, said during a meeting of the commission, BelTA has learned.
According to Yevgenia Paramonova, the campaign is being held as part of the Year of Health Protection in the CIS. “It features a wide range of events in each of the member states, including those to raise awareness in law, medical activities, and landscaping. We are working hard to exchange best practices on protecting and promoting the right to medical care and treatment,” she added.
Yevgenia Paramonova believes that studying the experiences of other countries enables to learn from colleagues’ best practices. “It also helps to identify problematic areas and share perspectives on the development of healthcare systems and the implementation of the right to medical care and treatment as an essential component of the right to health. The Constitution of the World Health Organization defines the right to health as one of the fundamental human rights, states must strive for the highest possible level of ensuring that right,” the commission chairwoman said.
“Healthcare quality and access for citizens and foreign nationals remain among pressing issues for all countries, I believe,” Yevgenia Paramonova noted.
