BEIJING,Dec,12 (APP): In wake of China Pakistan Economic Corridor
(CPEC) project, the numbers of Chinese Government Scholarships for Pakistani students have been increased to 600 a year, Pakistan’s Education Attache to China, Navid Hassan Khan said.
Talking to APP, Khan said that prior to the CPEC project, the numbers of the scholarships for Pakistani students were around 200 per year but after the project launch, the China Scholarship Council has increased the number to 600.
However, the increased 400 scholarships are being awarded through universities not through the government, he said.
The education attache said that in total, 15,652 Pakistani students were studying in different universities of China. Out of them 2700 students were being funded by Chinese Government Scholarship Program and over 1,000 were on other scholarship programs of the universities.
He further stated that CPEC was opening numerous education opportunities for Pakistani students and thousands of Pakistani students were taking keen interest in these openings.
He said that currently 2,400 Pakistani students were doing their PhD funded by different Chinese scholarships.
However, he said that over 11,500 Pakistani students were studying in China on self-finance and the majority was pertaining to the medical field.
Naveed Hassan Khan said the students were getting education in different fields in various Chinese universities including computer science and technology, business administration, finance, physics ,chemistry, architecture , civil engineering, broadcasting communication,
international law, Journalism and so on ,covering bachelors, master, PhD and advance training programs.
