BEIJING, Aug 19 (APP):Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit South Korea and Indonesia from August 19 to 22, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced, as Beijing steps up high-level diplomatic engagement with key partners in Asia.
According to a ministry spokesperson, Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and China’s foreign minister, will travel to the two countries at the invitation of South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.
During his visit to Indonesia, Wang will chair the inaugural meeting of the China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue mechanism, aimed at strengthening coordination between the two countries on bilateral and regional issues.
He will also join Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and the two countries’ defense ministers for the second ministerial meeting under the China-Indonesia “2+2” dialogue mechanism. The talks are expected to focus on diplomatic and defense cooperation, as well as broader regional and international issues.
