China willing to cooperate with India, Pakistan to promote regional stability: FM

BEIJING, June 20 (APP):China is willing to strengthen cooperation with all neighbouring countries including India and Pakistan to promote stability and development in the region, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said here on Wednesday.
“India and Pakistan are both China’s neighbours and friends. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with all neighbouring countries including India and Pakistan to promote stability and development in the region,” Geng Shuang said during his regular briefing when asked to confirm whether
a proposal of the Chinese ambassador to India regarding holding of a tripartite summit between China, India and Pakistan represented official position of China.
The spokesperson said the Chinese side hoped that India and Pakistan would increase mutual trust and improve relations through dialogue and consultation and added, “This is in the common interest of countries in the region.”
Addressing a seminar on India-China relations in New Delhi early this week, Chinese Ambassador
to India Luo Zhaohui quoted “some Indian friends” as suggesting trilateral cooperation comprising India,
China and Pakistan under the SCO framework.
