China says implementation of Iranian nuclear agreement in common interest of world community

BEIJING, June 6 (APP):China Wednesday called upon relevant parties of Iranian nuclear issue to fully implement their obligations to help maintain the international nuclear non-proliferation system and peace and stability in the Middle East as it is in common interest of the international community.
“Under the current situation, China hopes that all parties concerned can proceed from the long-term and overall interests, continue to maintain and implement comprehensive agreements, and fully implement their agreement obligations.
This helps maintain the international nuclear non-proliferation system and peace and stability in the Middle East, and it is in the common interest of the international community,” Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Hua Chunying said during her regular press briefing held here while responding to a question regarding announcement of Iranian government for upgrading uranium enrichment capacity.
When asked regarding the possibility of a discussion on the Iranian nuclear issue at the forthcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, she said as, for the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue, China has repeatedly stated its position.
“We believe that all parties should fulfill their due responsibilities and obligations and maintain the solemnity and authority of the agreement,” she added.
Hua said as, for the SCO Qingdao Summit, the Chinese side hopes that all parties will focus on the theme of the summit and focus on pragmatic cooperation in all fields under the new situation of the SCO, so that the SCO will be able to display new vigor and vitality in Qingdao.
Explaining China’s position on Iran’s accession to the SCO, she said the SCO has consistently adhered to the principle of openness and actively carried out foreign exchanges.
After India and Pakistan became member states, the SCO’s cooperation was even broader and its international influence was further enhanced, she added.
The spokesperson said at present, more and more countries want to deepen their contacts and cooperation with the SCO. This fully reflects the strong attraction of the SCO.
The SCO member states attach great importance to the wishes of relevant countries and will earnestly study it in accordance with the provisions of the relevant documents of the SCO and the principle of consensus, she added.
While commenting on a report that Nepalese government may have decided to cancel cooperation with Chinese companies on a hydropower project, she said the report is not true. The project is a commercial project, and Chinese related companies are negotiating with Nepal on specific issues related to economic feasibility and other cooperation.
