China expresses deep condolences to victims of series of bombing in Sri Lanka

BEIJING, Apr 22 (APP):A Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Monday expressed deep condolences over the victims of the series of bombing in Colombo and other place and stressed the Chinese government’s firm support to Sri Lankan government in safeguarding national security and stability.
President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi have sent condolences to their respective Sri Lankan counterparts and, expressed deep condolences to the victims and the wounded in the series of explosions occurred in Colombo and other places in Sri Lanka, causing heavy casualties, Geng Shuang said during his regular briefing held here.
The spokesperson said after the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka launchedthe emergency plan for the first time, focusing on verifying the casualties of the Chinese personnel, fully searching for the missing personnel, sending personnel to visit the injured, and reminding the Chinese to strengthen preventive measures in the institutions and personnel.
After preliminary verification, there were Chinese citizens killed or lost in the incident. Five Chinese citizens were injured, but they are not life-threatening. They are currently being treated in hospitals and are in stable condition, he added.
He said the Chinese side will pay close attention to the follow-up of the incident and do its best to do the relevant work.
