BREST, Dec 10 (BelTA/APP): Belarus’ Brest Oblast is exploring the possibility of establishing an expanded polystyrene (EPS) facility, BelTA learned from the Brest Oblast Executive Committee.
A delegation from Brest Oblast is in China on a visit until 11 December. The program includes meetings, negotiations, signing contracts and agreements, and tour of leading enterprises. The Brest Oblast delegation concluded their work in Shanghai.
The next stop is the city of Hefei in Anhui Province. In particular, the delegation led by Governor of Brest Oblast Piotr Parkhomchik held negotiations with a home appliance manufacturing company. This company has invested in setting up a production facility in Brest Oblast. For this purpose, factory premises were renovated, equipment was installed, and the production of home appliances was launched. The enterprise employs approximately 600 people.
“We are ready to take the next step in developing our cooperation. In this regard, we propose to formalize our intentions regarding increasing production volumes and organizing the manufacturing of expanded polystyrene,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.
The Brest Oblast Executive Committee and its Chinese partners signed a memorandum of intent to expand strategic partnership and establish new production of expanded polystyrene. A memorandum of intent to set up a research and development center was also concluded. “These projects are of great importance to us and are fully supported by the leadership of Brest Oblast and the Republic of Belarus as a whole. Furthermore, we are prepared to propose several other areas for cooperation,” the governor emphasized.
In addition, the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies is set to sign a cooperation memorandum with the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial People’s Congress on 10 December.
Brest Oblast has maintained sister-region relations with Anhui Province since 2017.
