BAKU, Sep 4 (AZERTAC/APP) : As part of the visit to Türkiye, an Azerbaijani delegation led by Anar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, met with Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services of the brotherly country.
During the meeting, the parties underscored that thanks to the Azerbaijani and Turkish Presidents’ efforts, the relations between the two countries have been elevated to the level of strategic alliance. The two hailed the successful cooperation and constant development of ties in the field of social services between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
Anar Aliyev stated that the Ministerial Declaration on Foster Family, developed by the Turkish Ministry of Family and Social Services, serves as a crucial support for promoting the growth of children in a family environment. The minister highlighted the Declaration’s role as a platform for international cooperation to improve foster care systems and expressed gratitude for the initiative.
Noting the purposeful collaboration in social services and particularly within the context of the foster family model, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş emphasized that the consistent exchange of experiences is crucial.
The meeting also focused on future cooperation between the two institutions. Anar Aliyev signed the Ministerial Declaration on Foster Family. The document envisages the establishment of mechanisms for the exchange of best practices between countries to strengthen and promote foster family services, and the designation of June 30 as the international “Foster Family Day” to increase public awareness on foster family services.
The declaration also reflects the establishment of a “Working Group on Foster Family” consisting of representatives from various countries to enhance interaction on foster family services, the expansion of foster family practice on a global scale, taking as an example the “Volunteer Ambassadors of the World Project”, which serves to increase the number of foster families in Türkiye, and other measures.
