BUENOS AIRES, Jul 23 (Xinhua/APP): The mayor of Reduccion, a town in central Argentina’s Cordoba province, died Tuesday after his plane crashed, provincial authorities said.

The aircraft carrying Jorge Grazziano, the mayor, crashed into a field between Villa Mercedes and Justo Daract in San Luis, about 700 km northwest of the capital Buenos Aires.

Martin Llaryora, governor of Cordoba, expressed his “heartfelt condolences to the family and friends” of the victim.

“I also extend my warmest greetings to his entire community, the one for which Jorge worked with tireless commitment and dedication. He will be remembered for his dedication to public service, for his constant drive for the development of Reduccion, and for his firm commitment to the progress of the south of the province,” the governor said.

Civil Defense, firefighters, and the provincial police took part in the assistance operation, securing the perimeter to facilitate the necessary investigations.

A federal court intervened in the case, with the aim of determining the circumstances that led to the crash.
