All parties should step up dialogue, take conducive actions for peace, stability in Afghanistan: China

BEIJING, Jan 30 (APP)::A Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Wednesday said that the relevant parties should step up dialogue and take conducive actions for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
“We believe that the relevant parties should step up dialogue and take actions that are conducive to peace and stability in Afghanistan,” Geng Shuang said during his regular briefing while responding to a question of APP Correspondent about the recently held talks between the US representative and Afghanistan’s Taliban in Doha, Qatar.
China has always maintained that the Afghan issue must be solved through political means and advocated an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned reconciliation process, he added.
The spokesperson said that the Chinese side has noted the reports about the talks and would continue to play a positive and constructive role for the settlement of Afghan issue.
It may be mentioned that Afghanistan’s Taliban opened a new round of peace talks with the United States in Doha, Qatar.
Zalmay Khalilzad, the US special representative for Afghanistan political reconciliation, led the US delegation.
