ISLAMABAD, Nov 11 (APP): The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani expressing serious concern over the latest spree of crackdowns on youth,especially in Srinagar, has threatened mass agitation if the authorities do notstop arresting and harassing the people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Police are conducting nocturnal raids, arresting youth and subjecting them to third-degree torture in police stations.”
He termed the puppet Chief Minister, Mufti Sayeed’s slogan “Goli Say
Nahi Boli Say (Battle of Ideas)” as a hoax saying that the pro-India party PDP had been badly exposed on ground and it could not befool the Kashmiris anymore.
The veteran leader strongly condemned the use of excessive and force
in old Srinagar and Zainakote areas. “People all over the world hold protests in support of their demands which is their democratic right, but Jammu and Kashmir is the only exception to this rule where peaceful protesters are dealt with bullets, pellets and other deadly weapons,” he said.
Syed Ali Gilani denounced the detention of 12 children in Pampore
police station and three minors at Khanyar police station. “These children were traveling to Srinagar on 7th November to attend the Million March rally at TRC ground but police at Pampore stopped them and detained them in police stations,” he deplored.
He also condemned the continued imprisonment of Dukhtaran-e-Millat
Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and 31 other women activists and registration of false cases against them.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Syed Ali Gilani-led forum, comprising
General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, Mohammad Yaseen Attai and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar visited a hospital in Bemina and met the injured youth of Zainakote. These youth were wounded due to use of excessive force on peaceful protesters by Indian troops and police personnel in the area.
