RIYADH, Nov 11 (APP): Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday warned that the future of the region and the world stands at a critical juncture as aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese territories threatens the integrity of the international system.
Addressing the Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh, he strongly condemned a ‘systematic campaign’ against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s unequivocal opposition to any plans that could undermine the Palestinian cause, including the displacement of populations, forced transfers, or actions rendering Gaza uninhabitable.
He emphasized that genuine security and stability in the region can only be achieved through the creation of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Such a move, he argued, would be essential for a peaceful and development-focused regional framework.
The Egyptian president also reiterated Egypt’s support for Lebanon, affirming its commitment to strengthening Lebanese state institutions. He called for an immediate end to the aggression and destruction affecting the Lebanese people, stressing the urgent need for a ceasefire and the full, impartial implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
In conclusion, El-Sisi urged the international community to intensify its efforts toward achieving peace in the region, highlighting Egypt’s role in advocating for stability and resilience among its regional neighbors.
