A Syrian student wins best speaker title at ISDC in Qatar

Doha, Jan. 12 (SANA/APP): Syrian student Lana Akram al-Hammoud won the title of “Best Speaker in the Open Arabic Category” during the 7th International Schools Debating Championship in Arabic (ISDC), organized by the Qatar Debates Centre for the 2025–2026 season, with the participation of more than 200 competitors from 50 countries.

Al-Hammoud demonstrated outstanding performance in public speaking and argumentation skills, earning her international recognition that reflects the image of a creative Syrian student capable of competing on the global stage.

She expressed her appreciation for the cultural diversity and plurality of opinions that characterized the championship rounds, affirming that the debates enriched her experience and further developed her dialogue skills.

This achievement comes as part of a series of successes attained by Syrian students in international competitions, reaffirming their ability to compete globally and maintain their cultural and linguistic presence.

The International Schools Debating Championship is considered one of the most prominent annual educational events aimed at developing students’ public speaking and critical thinking skills. It includes multiple categories in both Arabic and English, with a focus on contemporary issues such as the environment, social justice, and technology.
