BANDARBAN, Jul 30 (BSS/APP):A total of 236 flood-affected families of the district have received cash assistance and health protection supplies through a joint humanitarian initiative by World Vision Bangladesh and GRAUS, funded by the Start Fund.
Member of Parliament for Bandarban constituency Saching Prue Jerry handed over the aid at a function held in the conference room of Sadar Upazila Parishad as the chief guest.
The programme was chaired by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Marufa Sultana Khan.
Speaking at the event, MP Saching Prue emphasized that non-governmental development organizations should play a more responsible role alongside the government in responding to humanitarian crises.
At the end of the programme, each of the 236 flood-affected families from different wards of the Bandarban municipality received Taka 8,000 in cash assistance, along with safe drinking water and various health protection supplies.
Md. Ruhul Amin, Manager of the Start Fund Response Project at World Vision Bangladesh, Md. Abdul Aziz, Technical Officer, Mongthowaiching Marma, Chairman of GRAUS, Chinmoy Mro, Deputy Executive Director of GRAUS and Ashish Kumar Haldar, Senior Manager of the Bandarban Office of World Vision Bangladesh were present, among others.
