10 Killed, several injured in shooting at high school, residential building in Canada

OTTAWA, Feb 11 (QNA/APP): Canadian police announced that 10 people, including the suspected shooter, have been killed and 25 others injured in a shooting at a high school in the province of British Columbia.

In an official statement on Wednesday, police said the incident began at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, where security forces responded to reports of an armed individual.

The officers found a number of dead and wounded inside the school, while the suspect was found injured with what appeared to be a self-inflicted wound. The bodies of two other individuals were also discovered at a home believed to be connected to the incident.

The statement explained that police continue to search other homes and properties to determine whether there are any additional victims or any further links to the events.

It also confirmed that authorities do not believe there are any more suspects or any ongoing threat to the public, noting that the investigation is ongoing to determine the motives and full circumstances of the incident.

The town of Tumbler Ridge is located more than 1,000 kilometers north of Vancouver, near the border with Alberta, and has a population of about 2,400 people.

The school has around 175 students. These types of incidents are rare in Canada compared to other countries.
