KIU pays tribute to Chinese experts, holds cleanliness drive at Pak-China border

GILGIT, Aug 28 (APP): The Karakoram International University (KIU) in collaboration with its China Study Centre and International Office, organized a special ceremony at the Pak-China border to mark the completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

According to the KIU Public Relations Department, the ceremony paid tribute to Chinese engineers, experts, scholars and professionals who have rendered valuable services in Pakistan.

KIU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak attended the ceremony as chief guest, along with senior administrative and academic officers and a large number of students.

Addressing the gathering the Vice Chancellor highlighted the historical and enduring friendship between Pakistan and China, saying that over the past 75 years the bilateral relationship had evolved into an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership”.

He said the partnership was founded on mutual trust, friendship and a shared vision of prosperity.

The event was organized with the cooperation of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan.

Associate Dean Dr. Manzoor Ali, Director International Office Dr. Sajjad Haider and other speakers also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the strong and longstanding people-to-people ties between the two countries, particularly in the fields of education, culture and development.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants, led by KIU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak, also took part in a cleanliness drive at the Pak-China border in collaboration with KIU, the Forest and Wildlife Department and the Khunjerab Valley Organization (KVO).

The cleanliness campaign aimed at protecting the natural environment of the conservation area and creating awareness among tourists about maintaining cleanliness and safeguarding the sensitive ecological environment of the border region.
