GILGIT, Jul 03 (APP): Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan chaired a high-level meeting with all relevant departments to review preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season and potential Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) risks, directing all departments to maintain maximum readiness.
He subsequently visited the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA) headquarters in Minawar, where he inspected the Provincial Emergency Operation Center (PEOC) and emergency relief stockpiles, received briefings on monitoring and response mechanisms, and checked preparedness measures.
The Chief Secretary later inspected restoration works at Manoga Nala, reviewed the situation on the ground, interacted with local residents, and ordered immediate administrative and disciplinary action against the concerned staff over observed operational lapses.
