BERLIN, May 14 (APP):A meeting was held at the Embassy of Pakistan here, wherein the participants discussed Pakistan-Germany bilateral relations, the welfare of the overseas Pakistani community in Germany, student facilitation, climate cooperation, media engagement, and future collaboration between both countries.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Pakistan Saqlain Syedah, Ambassador of Justice Helpline International Europe Mian Mubeen Akhtar, President of Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists Tariq Usmani, President of Pakistan-German Press Club Berlin Zahoor Ahmed, and a university student Muhammad Anwar Ul Haq.
During the meeting, Ambassador Saqlain Syedah highlighted the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Germany, spanning over 75 years.
She emphasized Germany’s important role in Pakistan’s development in various sectors, including trade, education, healthcare, industrial growth, energy infrastructure, and technical cooperation.
Discussions were also held regarding further strengthening economic and trade ties, climate change and skilled workforce cooperation with the participants, underscoring enhanced bilateral collaboration in addressing environmental challenges and developing climate resilience initiatives.
It was noted that progress has already been made regarding a skilled workers cooperation framework, and that the signing of the remaining Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would further strengthen opportunities for Pakistani skilled professionals in the host country.
The ambassador highly appreciated the efforts of Mian Mubeen Akhtar for actively serving as a bridge between the overseas Pakistani community in Germany and the embassy.
Acknowledging his role in facilitating overseas Pakistanis in Germany, she said that positive cooperation between the Pakistani community and the embassy played an important role in promoting a stronger and more positive image of Pakistan internationally.
In his remarks, Mian Mubeen Akhtar expressed profound appreciation for the historic achievement of dual nationality rights for overseas Pakistanis in the country.
He stated that the recognition of dual citizenship between Pakistan and Germany, which became official in January 2026, represents the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream of the Pakistani community in Germany.
He commended Ambassador Saqlain Syedah and the Pakistani government’s efforts in making this landmark decision possible, noting that it provides legal certainty, preserves vital connections to the homeland, and allows overseas Pakistanis in Germany to fully integrate into German society while maintaining their Pakistani identity and rights, including property and inheritance matters.
Tariq Usmani appreciated the efforts of Ambassador Saqlain Syedah and the embassy staff in addressing the concerns and issues of overseas Pakistanis in the country in an efficient and timely manner.
Zahoor Ahmed highlighted the constructive relationship between the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin and the Pakistani media community operating in Germany. Pakistani media abroad continues to play a positive and responsible role in highlighting community issues, strengthening communication, and promoting Pakistan’s image internationally through professional journalism, he added.
Student Muhammad Anwar Ul Haq, currently pursuing his master’s studies in Environmental Planning at one of German prestigious universities in Berlin emphasized the need for increased awareness, technical collaboration, and future-focused environmental policies to address the growing climate crisis.
The delegation also met Ali Shahid, First Secretary, and Sarwar Hussain, Head of Chancellor, who provided a detailed visit of various sections and departments within the embassy.
