BEIJING, Sep 27 (APP)::A Pakistani scientist Dr. Ali Imran has led the development of Solar Blind Photodetector Technology from scientific innovation toward industrialization in China, bridging the gap between research and industry.
Dr. Ali Imran led the solar-blind photodetector project using an 180 nm/6-inch wafer Semiconductor Processing Platform in his role as Director of Research and Development at the National Nanotech Innovation Center in Guangzhou. The development journey covered major stages of technology translation, including device concept and design, advanced materials integration, semiconductor processing,wafer-scale fabrication, testing, packaging, and intellectual-property development, he said in a statement here.
The project was aimed not only at demonstrating a high-performance photodetector at the laboratory scale, but also at establishing a technology pathway toward wafer-scale production and industrialization. A key part of the work involved the Semiconductor & MEMS processing platform, covering the wafer-scale fabrication of semiconductor device chips. The project progressed from a scientific concept to an electronic product, demonstrating how emerging sensor technologies can be translated from research into
manufacturing-oriented development.
The work was carried out at the National Nanotech Innovation Center in Guangzhou, a national-level innovation platform approved for establishment by the National Development and Reform Commission of China. The center aims to promote technological innovation and accelerate the translation and industrialization of emerging technologies in areas including advanced nanomaterials and nanodevices.
This initiative demonstrates a pathway from scientific innovation toward industrialization, progressing from proof of concept toward a practical product through successive Technology Readiness Levels. The journey reflects the Chinese vision of innovation, industrialization, commercialization, and globalization by using science and technology to improve human life beyond borders.
The journey also reflects the growing scientific cooperation between China and Pakistan, where young researchers from the two brotherly countries work side by side to transform innovative ideas into practical technologies. Such collaboration demonstrates how
Chinese and Pakistani researchers can jointly contribute to scientific and technological progress, further strengthening the longstanding China-Pakistan friendship and contributing to a shared future through science and technology.
