Pakistan warns India-backed terror proxies will face ‘same fate’ as downed jets in May last year

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 08 (APP):A senior Pakistani diplomat told a UN panel Wednesday that India has intensified its use of terrorist proxies—including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA)—against Pakistan following its May 2025 defeat, warning that these groups will face the same fate as downed Indian fighter jets.
“We continue to face terrorist attacks from externally-sponsored groups such as the TTP and BLA and its Majeed Brigade which operate with impunity from Afghan soil with the active support of India,” Ambassador Usman Jadoon,  deputy permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, said during a debate in the General Assembly ‘s Legal (sixth) Committee on ‘Measures to eliminate International Terrorism’.
At the end of Pakistani envoy’s sharp remarks, a verbal duel ensued between delegates of India and Pakistan who traded cross-border terrorism charges.
In his address, Ambassador Jadoon reaffirmed Pakistan’s condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,  highlighting this menace emanating from Afghanistan, in particular,  has has emerged as a grave threat, besides its incidence in West Africa and the Sahel, and the Middle East.
Pakistan, he said,  has been compelled to respond with precise, well-planned and calibrated counterterrorism operations against terrorist infrastructure and safe havens along the country’s western border, based on credible intelligence.
“These strikes are strictly targeted at TTP and BLA terrorists and are carried out with high precision and accuracy to avoid civilian casualties,” the Pakistani envoy said, adding, ” We categorically reject any allegations or insinuation to the contrary.”
Exercising his right of rely, an Indian delegate Raghoo Puri denied Ambassador Jadoon’s charges, asserting it is Pakistan which was involved in cross-border terrorism.
“For years”, he added, “Pakistan has presented itself as a frontline state in combating terrorism and as a victim, while masking the fact that the Frankenstein’s the Pakistani state has created and lost control over have moved from wreaking havoc in neighbouring countries to doing the same in Pakistan,” said Puri, a first secretary in the Indian Mission to the UN.
Pakistani delegate Muhammad Jawad Ajmal hit back, calling India a serial violator of human rights.
Noting that India’s “new found love for the Taliban regime”  was no accident, he pointed out that they have been actively supporting them with material and logistical support for carrying out terrorist attacks against Pakistan — causing deaths and destruction of infrastructre.
The capture of a serving Indian naval commander Kulbhushan Jadhav on Pakistani territory, Ajmal, a counsellor in the Pakistan Mission to the UN,  said was a glaring example of Indian state terrorism.
“The Indian footprint of extraterritorial assassinations and killings abroad, which have now become a global feature of their illegal actions, include attempts made by Nikhil Gupta who pleaded guilty for plotting to murder a Sikh leader on U.S. territory and the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, all at the behest of the Indian government are public knowledge and need no elaboration.”
Pakistan, he said,  will defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, its people and its security.
Puri, the Indian delegate, came back again. “If this much effort had actually been made in countering terrorism rather than narrative building, misinformation, and disinformation, the world would have been a better place,” he said.
Reacting to India’s second right of reply, Ajmal, the Pakistani delegate said New Delhi  seems obsessed with the internal affairs of Pakistan: Instead of criticizing and resorting to insults, it should spend its energy on putting its house in order.
The ruling RSS-BJP dispensation in India has institutionalized Hindutva ideology in state policy and practice, and unleashed a reign of terror to persecute minorities, as Muslims are being demonized, Christians targeted, Dalits dehumanized and Sikhs disenfranchised, he said.
Since 2019, India intensified its attempts to change the distinct Kashmiri identity through brutal tactics and alter the demographic composition of the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir with the aim of turning Kashmiris into a minority in their own homeland that can materially affect the plebiscite arrangements to be held under the UN auspices in line with international law.
The international community must reject such settler colonialism policies that have no place in the 21st century, Ajmal added.
