WASHINGTON, Jun 05 (APP): A prominent Pakistani-American business leader has said Pakistan must strive to benefit from the uptick in Pakistan-US relations by securing financial support for its development and infrastructure projects.
Mossadaq Chughtai, who runs energy, data center and pharmaceutical companies, was commenting on the international dimension of a tax-cut bill the U.S. President Donald Trump has described as one big beautiful bill and is trying to get passed in Congress.
He noted that the Bill has provisions which offer an opportunity for Pakistan to benefit from.
“The Pakistan-US cooperation should translate into economic gains for Pakistan, this bill has foreign appropriations, which could help Pakistan consolidate its economic growth plans,” he said.
Chughtai, who founded a think tank two decades ago, said the Pakistani leaders should convince the current U.S. Administration that, as a close ally, Pakistan should have a share of about $20 billion in foreign appropriations to lift its manufacturing and industrial sectors.
“If that does not happen, this would not be considered Pakistan’s success.”
