BEIJING, Oct 23 (APP): Pakistan will actively engage with Kyrgyzstan’s vision for regional peace, development and prosperity as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) enters its new phase under the 2025–2026 Kyrgyz Chairmanship, said SCO Deputy Secretary General Sohail Khan on Thursday.
He told APP following a comprehensive briefing by Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to China, Aktilek Musaeva, who outlined her country’s priorities under the slogan “25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity.”
Khan emphasized that Pakistan, as an active member of the SCO, stands ready to align with the Kyrgyz agenda that focuses on long-term regional stability, economic connectivity, digital transformation, and environmental cooperation. He particularly highlighted Pakistan’s interest in supporting all five key priorities, including initiatives on transport corridors linking Central and South Asia, Ecology and Sustainable Development, as well as the Expansion of cultural, Educational, and Humanitarian Cooperation.
Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, welcomed Kyrgyzstan’s vision for regional peace, development, and prosperity. He lauded the country’s inclusive approach under its 2025–2026 Chairmanship, noting it would further strengthen unity and cooperation among SCO member states.
Ambassador Musaeva noted that Kyrgyzstan aims to strengthen the SCO’s role as a platform for dialogue and cooperation, with special focus on economic integration and digital innovation.
The 25th Anniversary SCO Summit, held in Tianjin on September 1, 2025, adopted the “Tianjin Declaration” and the “SCO Development Strategy 2035,” setting a roadmap for deeper collaboration among member states, including Pakistan.
