Outstanding diplomat medal: Celebrating diplomatic dedication amid 75 years of China-Pakistan ties

BEIJING, May 20 (APP):The inaugural ceremony of Outstanding Diplomat Medal held here the other day and honored the Pakistan’s Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, which was more than a mere personal accolade, and sttod as a vivid testament to the unbreakable bond between China and Pakistan.
This was particularly meaningful as the two nations celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. Notably, Ambassador Hashmi has become the first Pakistani ambassador to China to receive this prestigious honor, a milestone that endows the award with extraordinary significance.
This was stated by Prof Cheng Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, a non-governmental Chinese think-tank on diplomacy and international studies based in Beijing.
Presented by Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi alongside seven other current and former envoys, this decoration underscores the pivotal role of diplomats as bridges of friendship in an increasingly complex global landscape, he added.
Ambassador Hashmi’s description of the award as “special” and “memorable” strikes a deep chord, as it reflects not only his personal dedication but also the collective efforts of all those committed to forging closer bilateral cooperation.
His decision to dedicate the medal to his colleagues, family and all stakeholders involved underscores the spirit of mutual commitment that defined the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan.
Prof Cheng remarked that beyond individual recognition, this honor carried profound significance. It symbolized the mutual trust and confidence that have sustained China-Pakistan relations for three-quarters of a century, a partnership rooted in mutual respect, shared interests and unwavering mutual support.
As both countries push forward cooperation under the frame work of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Action plan to foster an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era (2025-2029), Hashmi’s award served as a powerful reminder of diplomacy’s capacity to deepen and solidify bilateral ties.
In an era of global transformations, such awards reaffirmed China’s commitment to nurturing friendly and cooperative international relations.
For China and Pakistan, this medal is a significant milestone in their 75-year journey of friendship and diplomacy, commemorating past achievements and charting a course for a more prosperous and interconnected future.
Above all, it is a tribute to diplomatic dedication and a solemn promise that their “iron-clad” friendship will continue to flourish and stand the test of time, he added.
