BEIJING, July. 28 (APP):By now, China has released 1,509 large models, ranking first among the 3,755 large models released worldwide.
The CEN learned at the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference on July 27 that there are more than 35,000 artificial intelligence companies in the world, with more than 5,100 AI companies in China, accounting for about 15% of the total. At the same time, the scale of the industry continues to grow, forming a complete industrial system covering basic foundations and industry applications. More than that, there are 271 artificial intelligence unicorn companies in the world, 71 of which are in China, accounting for about 26% of the world’s total.
“The iteration speed of basic large models has accelerated since the beginning of this year, and new technical routes are ready to go, showing great potential for moving towards general artificial intelligence. The development of China’s artificial intelligence technology industry is expected to usher in new breakthroughs,” Yu Xiaohui, president of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, told the reporter.
Listed companies and unicorns are important engines driving the development of China’s artificial intelligence industry. At present, there are more than 300 listed artificial intelligence companies in China, with their artificial intelligence-related revenue accounts for about 70% of the overall scale of China’s artificial intelligence industry. The innovation fields of artificial intelligence unicorns are widely distributed, and the top five currently include large models, autonomous driving, intelligent robots, business intelligence applications, and intelligent computing chips.
In daily life, domestic AI products are deeply integrated with scenarios such as office collaboration, education accessibility, industrial design, and content creation, building an intelligent application ecosystem covering multiple fields.
Globally, a number of high-quality domestic AI products are accelerating their overseas expansion, among which DeepSeek has exceeded 30 million daily active users worldwide in less than 20 days since its launch, becoming the fastest growing generative AI application in the world. In addition, China has become the world’s largest owner of AI patents, accounting for 60%.
“In the next decade, China will see artificial intelligence comprehensively reshape the industrial Internet. With the further popularization of AI technology and the comprehensive advancement of digital transformation in various industries, AI will also be deeply applied in more real economic fields such as manufacturing and energy, combined with more complex physical scenarios and core production processes, to promote greater transformational breakthroughs in productivity,” Yu added.
