BEIJING, Dec 22 (APP): Northeast China’s Jilin Province, during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), has achieved significant results in geological prospecting, discovering 47 mineral sites suitable for further exploration and evaluation, identifying and reporting 27 super-large, large, and medium-to-small mineral deposits, local media cnjiwang.com reported on Monday, citing provincial geology and mineral resources authorities.
The report also said that important breakthrough achievements have been made in gold prospecting in the Yitong region, crystalline graphite prospecting in the Ji’an region, and polymetallic prospecting in the Huadian region this year.
Last year, exploration of the Houliuhezi gold deposit in Yitong achieved a breakthrough, with identified gold resources of 22 tons. Subsequently, the Jilin Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources built on this advantage and continued in-depth exploration, successfully identifying another large-scale gold deposit in the nearby Erdaoling region, with estimated resources amounting to 38 tons, according to the report.
Currently, the exploration depth of both deposits does not exceed 500 meters, and the ore bodies remain open along both strike and dip directions. This year, the Jilin Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources discovered multiple new gold ore bodies in the periphery of this area. With further work, the gold resources in this area are expected to exceed 100 tons, per the report.
