TOKYO, Nov 21 (APP): The Japan-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship League was formally revived on Friday during an inaugural meeting attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Japan, Abdul Hameed.
The session was convened by Seiji Maehara, Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Friendship League, who extended a special invitation to the ambassador to participate in the event.
Maehara welcomed the renewed momentum in Japan-Pakistan cooperation, noting the positive trajectory of bilateral ties. He highlighted his participation in Pakistan’s National Day celebrations at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025 as a reflection of the growing warmth between both nations.
Ambassador Abdul Hameed expressed satisfaction over the league’s revival, describing it as an important step in strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.
He underscored that Pakistan and Japan share a longstanding relationship rooted in peace, development cooperation and a mutual commitment to prosperity.
He also pointed to six key institutional mechanisms that continue to support collaboration across multiple sectors.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their resolve to broaden the scope of bilateral engagement and deepen cooperation in the years ahead.
